There’s this man
Whom I adore
We sit together
On the floor
Forehead to forehead
Palm to palm
He steadies my soul
Accepts as I am
I walk this path
With Him alone
No need to for words
No grounds to atone
As He is
As I am
Him and I
On the floor
I wrote this many years ago as I often found praying difficult, feeling like I was stumbling over hurdles and falling at each one. I found great comfort in spending time with the Lord, walking, sometimes in silence, sometimes talking. I’ve cried, laughed and even danced with Him. Our time always ends with us sitting on the floor/ground, forehead to forehead, palm to palm.
As a young girl I found this to be the most effective method to connect with the Lord, and, as a 53 year old woman, it is still my preferred way to pray. This poem still resonates with me today as I walk with Him through forests, over beaches or simply sitting on a bench and yes, it continues to end with us on the ground forehead to forehead, palm to palm…
