Season of Creation – A nature tour to inspire

The Season of Creation runs from 1 September to 4 October – the feast of St Francis of Assisi).

What is the connection between caring for creation and being inspired by discovering the wonder of what surrounds us? This coming Saturday we have a special guided opportunity to learn and be inspired. This event is free and open to all – please come with family members and friends.

Our discovery tour will be led by Dr Ian Edwards, an ecologist and nature guide, and Research Associate at the Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh. Ian has a long-standing interest in natural regeneration and habitat restoration and supporting communities to improve their environment.

The tour is on Saturday, 5 September from 11am – lasting about 1½ hours. We will learn about coastal plants that support wildlife in the western section of Portobello Bay. It will be an opportunity to consider how this area has changed and what can be done to encourage biodiversity and ameliorate the impact of climate change.

Meet at the kilns in Bridge Street at 11 am on Saturday 5 September. Dress for the weather and bring a snack/drink.
